Sean McKenna | Write-In Campaign
The Brief
Build awareness and momentum for Sean McKenna’s write-in campaign for Plainfield City Council—a particularly challenging communications assignment where voters not only had to support the candidate, but also remember to physically write his name on the ballot.
The Solution
I developed a campaign identity and integrated digital content designed to make “Write-In Sean McKenna” the central, memorable message. The work included paid social creative, digital advertising and talking-head video content that introduced Sean to voters, communicated his positions and gave the campaign a consistent visual voice across channels.
The creative paired bold, high-impact typography with candid neighborhood photography and a straightforward message that positioned Sean as an accessible, hands-on candidate focused on the people he hoped to represent.
The Craft
From campaign concept and messaging through graphic design, photo editing, video production and post-production, I created a flexible system of assets that could quickly adapt to the pace and needs of a local political campaign.
The Result
While Sean ultimately fell short at the ballot box, the write-in campaign made a strong showing—demonstrating how a focused creative strategy and coordinated paid-media effort can build recognition and generate meaningful voter support, even without the advantage of a candidate’s name appearing on the ballot.
